Senior Software Engineer - Air Transport Displays

Rockwell Collins Seattle Systems Engineering is looking for a talented senior software engineer who has substantial software development experience. Join our growing team of engineers designing state-of-the-art, industry-leading flight displays for commercial jet aircraft. Projects include the 737 MAX Large Display System development and other commercial Air Transport pursuits.

This position requires experience in software engineering tasks including software requirements and architecture development, software design and implementation, functional and integration testing and software delivery support. Responsibilities also include technical coordination with both internal and external customers. Experience with DO-178B development processes (preferably Level A), Model Based Development are required, and experience with ARINC 664, ARINC 661, and partitioned operating systems and are highly desirable but not absolutely necessary.

The following experience and skills are a must:
1. Experienced in software engineering processes and methodologies
2. Disciplined in system analysis and decomposition of system requirements into simple, maintainable, scalable and verifiable designs
3. Adherence to defined software processes for development, verification and configuration management in order to comply with the recommendations of RTCA DO-178B
4. Ability to collaborate with engineers and generate a positive team working environment
5. Ability to work proactively and be self-directed with limited oversight
6. Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments after doing comprehensive research of the problem domain
7. Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills for purposes of developing customer documentation and proposing well thought out solutions to technical problems
8. Ability to quickly acquire technical domain knowledge and contribute to the design of sophisticated architectural systems
9. Demonstrated efforts to improve processes and streamline efforts to reduce cost, shorten delivery and increase quality
10. Willingness to mentor more junior engineers

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering or science field, and six years of related experience, or, in the absence of a bachelor's degree, twelve years of related experience.
