We are seeking to appoint a post-doctoral Research Officer to work closely with our team on a software system to reconstruct a high-level machining process plan from CNC machining code as part of an EU funded project titled STEPMAN. This project seeks to bring the advantages of the emerging STEP-NC suite of standards to manufacturing SMEs by enabling interoperability and manufacturing capability management.
You must have experience in programming CNC machines and development of software applications to support to CAD/CAM/CNC chain. Experience in micro process planning research and proficiency in CNC machine tool (G-Code) programming and an object-oriented computer programming language are essential. Familiarity with the data models of STEP-NC (ISO14649) is desirable.
A Ph.D. in an Engineering discipline or in computer science Mathematics or Physics is essential. You should be self-motivated and possess project management and technical communication skills.
