Graduate Software Engineer Thales - Redhill, United Kingdom

About this job

Job description

Software Engineer
Crawley
£27,000 + £2,000 welcome bonus

Pondering the positively perplexing sets our pulses racing at Thales. Where others lose heart and hope, we take things to a whole new level and exceed expectations. If you’re exceptionally enthused about tackling the bafflingly bewildering, the impossibly intractable and the quirkiest quandaries, we’d like you to create superlative solutions to engineering enigmas.

You might not realise it but our work touches all our lives, every single day. From BACS, the secure network communications system that underpins 3.7 billion chip and PIN transactions ever year, to in-flight entertainment systems for passenger planes and state-of-the-art equipment for military aircraft, the scope and scale of our problem-solving abilities know no bounds.

In this key role, you’ll develop the software that underpins our cutting-edge solutions.
It’s a remit that could see you working on large-scale software systems, embedded applications or complex digital signal processing technologies. Working as part of a team, you’ll also gain exposure to the whole software lifecycle — from the scoping of initial requirements, to design and development all the way through to testing, integration and validation.

That’s why we’re looking for people with strong team working skills as well as technical ability. In terms of your degree, we’ll be looking for at least a 2.1 in a Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or another relevant subject. You’ll certainly need to show that you know how to develop software applications using the latest tools – and that you possess sound knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++  and Java. We’ll also be looking for evidence of your self-motivation and creative problem-solving skills.
