Overview:MACH IT is the Microsoft IT college hiring program. It is a leadership development program which provides growth opportunities to high potential college graduates in Microsoft locations around the world. The successful candidates will participate in the MACH IT networking program with other MACH hires from across the world and will also be a member of the diverse graduate community in Microsoft Ireland. The program will comprise 4 six month rotations in different areas of IT over two years with an opportunity to do a rotation outside of IT in the third rotation.

Application Service Management:
The successful candidate will work as a member of a team in supporting mission critical business applications, providing solutions for business problems and ensuring operational excellence. The role involves the analyses and resolution of technical issues, and may involve some coding applets to be written and executed. This opportunity will develop candidate’s technical horse power. Candidates will work on the latest Microsoft product releases, working closely with diverse teams spread across multiple geographies.

Entertainment & Devices (E&D)
The primary focus for this role is to partner with E&D stakeholder groups such as Supply Chain, Sales & Marketing and Product Services & Localization to deliver innovative solutions built on Microsoft technology and our core ERP solution SAP. Our strategy is to deliver business solutions in an agile manner through 30/60/90 day releases. Solution Managers are responsible for key activities in the define phase of projects such as process engineering and business requirements definition. In addition they are responsible for the successful landing of the solution in the business through activities such as co-ordination of user acceptance testing, training and organizational change management.

User Experience IT
Site Infrastructure Services (SIS), within the broader User Experience IT group roadmap, maintain, and showcase Microsoft IT infrastructure on-site, worldwide. Expect exposure to managing infrastructure on site, providing productivity training to Microsoft employees, showcasing Microsoft IT solutions to customers and implementing various IT initiatives on site.
Software Development Engineer
The responsibilities include specification, architecture, design, development, unit testing and integration of software components. Software development touches all levels of the software stack, including client and server side components. Opportunity to develop leadership as well as technical execution and coding skills. You are able to take a feature area all the way from architecture to deployment and produce high quality code that is secure, performing, and scalable. Microsoft is continually innovating and developing the Office suite of products, so a self-driven attitude to dealing with new problem areas and a natural ability to innovate is essential.

Software Development Engineer in Test
This role is to design testing strategies, plan and develop the associated tools, execute, analyze and ultimately drive the product quality upwards. Your experience in testing consumer products will play a critical role in analyzing bug patterns and devising test plans that best fit the product scope and business goals. You are the gatekeeper and are responsible for the quality of a product and deciding whether a product is ready to be shipped or not.

Program Manager
PMs work alongside software developers and testers, designing and creating compelling new software solutions. PMs own a feature in an area of a product and write functional specifications for this. A developer then takes this and turns it into a work feature. A “spec” describes how a feature will function, the technical implementation, user interfaces and how it interacts with other features. During the writing of a spec, a PM will spend time talking to partner teams around the globe to ensure their feature fits product and plan as a whole. PMs will then focus on ensuring the feature is delivered in the final product.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate would have:
•An IT related qualification (2.1 or higher) and a passion for technology
•An understanding of the core productivity suite of Microsoft products
•Good analytical and problem solving skills
•Strong written and verbal communications
•Be a natural presenter and an outgoing engaging personality
•Good organizational and cross group collaboration skills
•An understanding of the software development life cycle
•Experience in the development and implementation of a software project - this could include projects students would have done as part of their college course.
•An understanding current IT trends e.g. cloud computing and .Net
•An aptitude for technical analyses

Desirable skills/knowledge:
•Knowledge of Microsoft development tools
•Knowledge of Object Orientated programming techniques would be an advantage
•Knowledge of SQL Server or similar relational database technology. Candidates should be able to write simple SQL scripts.
