Job Description
Zulily is seeking a proven architect or lead engineer to lead the design and development of the zulily website and back-office applications. The ideal candidate will have a broad background in web technologies, technology architectures and software development best practices. Creating solutions that are simple and sustainable should be second nature.
This role will serve as a technology expert and process leader. He/she will provide technical guidance and hands on leadership during the entire software development life cycle. Candidate must understand business impacts of technology and strive to maximize the business value of the technology efforts. The position will work very closely with other leaders in IT to ensure quality and timeliness of work product.

Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver critical customer facing and internal systems and features
- Oversee web application designs, test plans, and rollout strategies
- Evaluate and propose solutions
- Lead design efforts and discussions
- Review requirements, software designs, and code; take ownership of the quality of the deliverables
- Take responsibility for creating scalable and reliable system designs
- Champion the creation and enforcement of coding standards and development processes
- Provide time and effort estimates
- Reinforce a culture of trust and respect
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience architecting, designing and implementing high volume, high availability systems
- BS or MS degree in computer science or engineering.
- 7+ total years experience in software design and implementation in distributed environment
- 3+ years in lead engineer or lead architect capacity
- Able to be effective in a fast-paced environment
